This House Looks Familiar
A downloadable Game for Windows
This House Looks Familiar is a completly normal 3D exploration Game in which you will only have to pick up a key and open a door to finish the game.
Controls:
- Use WASD to move.
- Use Mouse to look around
- "E" to interact witch objects and
- Press ESC to open the Developer Console (Only in case of crash)
- ...
- I can't remember if there are more
This game was inspired by the caretaker "Everywhere at the end of time" Albums. It explores a representation of dementia.
May the ballroom be eternal...
It can only be played once, if you want to play it again press F12 when you have opened the game and then restart it.
This game was made in 72 hours for Ludum Dare #47 themed "Stuck in a loop"

Very nice game! But I don't get how I can play again, when I press F12 nothing happens. Should I press F12 while its starting or when it is open?
Hey! press F12 when you open the game, then close it, and open it again, it should work like the first time

I really enjoyed this game. The way the swing music goes from fun and comforting to menacing and strange really represents the experience well, but I don't want to say too much here. I played this for my Bloodcurdling Barrage, in which I do daily videos for all of October.

It's sad that people with dementia have to go through this I have had family members go through it and to see them not even know who you are is tragic.

I loved it. It was super spooky and immediately got interesting. I just wish it was longer and had a bit more story towards it. I hope to see this again with more development!

Advantages:
1. The game was very creepy and unsettling! Good horror game, well done! I think sound design was impeccable!
2. I loved the concept and the story. It's pretty cool how environment got eventually corrupted. Enjoyed the game a lot.
Disadvantages:
1. I think it would be cooler if some player's responses could be recognised and answered. It would be cool to script answers to the most popular reactions or questions.
2. I think the game had a lot more potential for being scary instead of unsettling. You could have added someone staring at the main character from the upstairs or somthing in the closet where the player can sneak a peak. Something like that would be awesome to see.
Overall:
I think the game was pretty cool but has a potential to be so much more at the same time! Thus, I rate it 4/5 stars at the moment. I think this could become a bigger project. Anyway, keep up the great job! Can't wait for more horror games from you!

The music made a big difference honestly, it left me feel real uneasy every time it just sounded a little off.

How can I install the game on MAC?
You don't have to install it, just download the game folder and extract it in your computer, then you just have to click the file named "This house looks familiar". Have fun! :)
Yeah, but there is only .exe file, which Mac can't run.
The store page lists a Linux version but in the folder there is only a Windows .exe file. Is this a glitch/mistake or is there no actual Linux version planned ?
yeah i'm on linux, it loaded up, but crashed soon after.
So what file did you run in the folder ?
i just clicked "Launch" after installing, i don't run files because i don't get any. sorry if that's no use for you.
It launches through the Itch app because it is launching it using Wine. I got a crash as well but it was weird. It asked me to type in my name and then to type in anything and then the game appeared to start. In any case if it launches through Wine then it is not a Linux game and the Linux and Mac icons are false advertising.
yeah, i think it is false advertising. but, i don't know why it wanted you to type your name in.
At first I was like "oh no not a P.T. clone" but then I saw more. It got me into a deep rant later

This is a nice twist on the normal P.T Formula. especially when the game starts to go "weird" on you. Not bad and really well made. Keep it up.

I love games like this! One moment you think everything's normal, the next you're getting smacked in the face with a floating toilet. Really well made, a nice quick bite of horror!

I found a glitch, watch the attached video, it did this in the second hallway, and on the video it did it in the first hallway. This might be an active glitch in all of the hallways.

Hello, I played this game and I really enjoyed it, it was a neat concept, and the looping thing wasn't bad either, the environment and sound effects were all pretty good, it did took me a while to do the key "puzzle" but over all I liked it, good work :)
